The Scottish First Year Apprentice Craft Competition is a competition that is held annually. The competition is designed for 1st year apprentices under the age of 18 at the time of the competition. The focus of the competition is on mechanical and electrical engineering and it consists of practical and theory assessment, based on the Performing Engineering Operations Level 2 qualification standard.

Score (Europe) Limited in Peterhead is celebrating after its graduate training scheme for engineers was presented with a certificate of accreditation from a global engineering body. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) visited the site on 1st of March 2011.

Mr David Moir, an Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering Apprentice with Score Energy in Peterhead was recently awarded 2nd place in the IMechE (Institute of Mechanical Engineers) Apprentice of the Year 2010, UK. He was presented with the award at the Vision Awards Ceremony on the 9th of December at IMechE, London. This is a fantastic achievement for David with all in Score Group wishing to congratulate him for gaining such a national accolade. This sentiment was echoed in the highest of terms by Charles Ritchie at the recent Apprenticeship Lunch.

On the 18th of November, Andrew Dobson and Dennis Helliwell of the IMechE visited Peterhead to carry out the accreditation of the Monitored Professional Development Scheme we have set up. This is to enable our graduate engineers develop the required competencies needed to progress to Chartered Engineer status as quickly as possible. We have been running the scheme for one year with three developing engineers, two based at Peterhead and one at Brighouse.
