Score Group plc has for many years contributed and supported schools in many of its global locations. This has been through various means involving Score apprentices, apprentice ambassadors and senior staff.
Score Group and Peterhead Academy have now signed a more formal agreement for the provision of support from the organisation to the school. The parties to this agreement have agreed to come together to establish a mutually beneficial relationship. The intention of this relationship is to assist the school in improving pupil achievement and to help pupils prepare for the world of work.
The organisation recognises, as part of the local community, the need for business and industry to become involved in the development of enterprise in education and therefore commit to the provision of support to the school in the form of professional and technical personnel resources. The organisation and the school have identified the following points that will form the basis of the partnership:-
• Work inspiration activities – Mentoring, career talks and site visits
• Experience – Work placements, work projects
• Vocational Learning – Modern apprenticeships
• Jobs – School leaver, entry level positions
Both parties in this agreement intend that it should be a long term and sustainable relationship, with DYWNES (Developing the Young Workforce North East Scotland), agreeing to provide support and assistance as and when required. The school recognise the importance and value of this relationship and will seek to maximise all opportunities for the organisation to benefit from this agreement.
The organisation and the school agree formally to adopt the above as a basis of understanding. Both parties enter this agreement on a professional basis, in an open and trusting manner, agree to abide by the principles underpinning the agreement and to maintain effective communication links at all times.
We are looking forward to seeing continuing excellent results from the academy through this initiative which will potentially reap rewards for both the school and Score. More importantly however, we trust this business/educational collaboration will give every secondary pupil the skills, confidence and knowledge, and ultimately greater opportunities for the chosen future career path.
