Score Apprenticeship Information Evening a Roaring Success

Score Group plc in Peterhead held its annual Apprenticeship Information Evening yesterday night (22nd March) at its Wellbank complex in Peterhead. This is the 6th successive year Score has held this event and each year more and more people have come along to find out about the apprenticeship opportunities the company provides.

Official opening time was 5:30pm although many people came along early to take full advantage of the event and to get the opportunity to speak to the array of specialists we had manning the stands. On display this year included engineering, machining and production, through to marine, subsea, Score Energy and NDT, as well as administration, IT and multimedia.  An innovative addition this year was at the IT stand where there was a live weblink to their current apprentice who is on secondment at our USA sites.  Live from Score Trinidad, he answered any question related to the IT apprenticeship as well as giving a small tour of the workshops and offices at that location via webcam.

During the night, there were also guided tours of Score Energy hosted by a few of our senior apprentices, explaining the work practices that take place within the facility and answering any questions asked.

Prior to the event opening, staff from local secondary schools and Skills Development Scotland were welcomed to the event allowing them time to engage with each of the stands in order that they were fully informed of the various apprenticeship programmes.  One of these visitors commented that they hadn’t realised the number of different apprenticeships that the company had to offer as well as the extended training and development that takes place within the company.

In total, over 150 people attended during the night, with each prospective apprentice leaving with a pack of information with further information.  One visitor when leaving expressed her thanks for the opportunity to come in with her son and added how friendly as well as knowledgeable everyone had made been towards them both and how she could see it was great company to work for.

On the same night as Score Europe was recognised at the SPE Aberdeen Offshore Achievement Awards with the Outstanding Skills Development accolade, this continues to demonstrate the unwavering commitment the company has towards providing apprenticeship opportunities.

Score in Peterhead is now inviting applications for a number of different apprenticeships, all of which can be viewed on the company website at score-group.com/careers.  If you missed the event but would like more information of what is on offer contact us through score-group.com/contact or call our HR team who can direct your call.
