Over two days, Score Group plc celebrated the successes of their apprentices at the annual Apprentice Awards and Christmas meals. The Future of Energy
At Score Energy we strive to increase the number of female apprentices we take on yearly, not because it makes up any “numbers quota” but because we find they make great apprentices. It’s often found that girls are more prepared for their new role and excel in their engineering apprenticeship, yet over the last decade in the UK, no more than 5% of young people starting an apprenticeship in engineering have been female in any one year.
The success of Scotland’s top Engineering Apprentices was celebrated at an award ceremony, held in Peterhead on Thursday 4th October, as the winners of the 2018 Scottish Engineering Craft Competition were presented with their awards.

In 2003, Score Energy Limited opened the Ground Level Engine (The GLEN) test facility, supporting the world’s most innovative dual fuel gas turbine test facility for operators of legacy gas turbines, including Rolls-Royce Avon and Siemens TB5000/TB5400. Across the past fifteen years, through substantial financial investment, the facility has improved and developed its capabilities, and now has the capacity to carry out more than 120 full performance and endurance tests each year.
In June, NESCol (North East Scotland College) hosted Scotland’s best engineering apprentices at their campus in Fraserburgh, for the 2018 Scottish Engineering Apprentice Craft Competition. Sponsored and organised by Score Group plc, the competition saw 16 Mechanical and Electrical engineering apprentices from 9 EAL (Excellence, Achievement & Learning Limited) approved training centres compete to win the prestigious titles.
