In June, NESCol (North East Scotland College) hosted Scotland’s best engineering apprentices at their campus in Fraserburgh, for the 2018 Scottish Engineering Apprentice Craft Competition. Sponsored and organised by Score Group plc, the competition saw 16 Mechanical and Electrical engineering apprentices from 9 EAL (Excellence, Achievement & Learning Limited) approved training centres compete to win the prestigious titles.
In the Mechanical Engineering category, PEDL (Peterhead Engineers Development Limited)’s Ben Mellin, who represented Score Group plc, took first place, closely followed by his fellow PEDL apprentice Ross Donald (Bill Mackie Engineering) taking second place.
In the Electrical Engineering category, North Highland College’s Alexander Deas representing Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd took first place, followed by Tullos Training Limited’s Matthew Grigor (Chives Brothers Ltd) taking second place.
The award ceremony is to take place on 4th October 2018 at PEDL, where the winners and runners up will receive their prizes. A full press release will be issued following the award ceremony.
