On the 9th and 10th of January at the Tufted Duck Hotel, St Combs, Score Group plc held its annual Apprentice Award Ceremony to celebrate the successes of the Scotland based apprentices. Over the 2 days, approximately 250 apprentices attended along with company directors and mentors, and were also joined by special guests from North East Scotland College (NESCol), Developing the Young Workforce (DYW), Aberdeenshire Council, and Mintlaw Academy.
Score Group plc recently responded to a local appeal by the Cadet Forces, Gordon Highlanders Club based in Boddam, Peterhead who were looking for support from the local community.
During the October holidays Score held a Maths Club for senior phase pupils S4 and above from the Peterhead area. The club is held twice a year during school holidays and is aimed at pupils who are considering leaving school to commence apprenticeships in Engineering.
Score Trinidad commenced its Modern Apprenticeship programme in September 2014, and to date has a total of thirty four apprentices in the organization. The Apprenticeship scheme is a training programme which was developed to give young persons the opportunity to work towards a Mechanical Engineering internationally recognised qualification, and earn while they learn.
In 2018, Score Group plc joined forces with NESCol and AFC’s Community Trust to support Abereenshire Council’s pioneering project, PeterDeen. This week, FraserDeen, an extension of the project has been officially launched in Fraserburgh.
Today Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) announced the widely anticipated finalists in the 2019 Northern Star Business Awards. Now in their 16th year, the high-profile awards recognise the exceptional achievements of companies throughout the region.
On the 10th of June Score celebrated a decade of the Ian M Cheyne building. In 2009 Score Group director, Ian M Cheyne was recognised for his career-long contribution when he received a building named after him. On the day, the unveiling of the red granite plaque bearing his name was shrouded in secrecy so it all came as a great surprise to Ian. Everyone from the building as well as many managers and directors from Score were present as Ian unveiled the plaque.
Last year, Score Group plc joined an innovative partnership alongside Peterhead Academy and two local north-east football clubs to encourage local pupils to reach their education goals.
Score Group opened its doors for the annual Apprenticeship Information Evenings at the Brighouse facility in Yorkshire on 5th March and Wellbank facility in Peterhead on 7th March. Running for the 7th successive year, the event had an excellent turnout with many school leavers attending to discover the wide range of apprenticeships Score offers.
The success of Scotland’s top Engineering Apprentices was celebrated at an award ceremony, held in Peterhead on Thursday 4th October, as the winners of the 2018 Scottish Engineering Craft Competition were presented with their awards.
