Accounting Representative (Canada)

At an exciting time to join the Score Group team, we are seeking a proactive Accounting Representative to support financial and payroll activities. Reporting to the Financial Controller, Canada, the Accounting Representative is responsible for all accounts payable functions within the company and will ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded while meeting all compliance and reporting deadlines. This role will also offer support within the Accounts Receivable function to the Sales Administration teams.

The incumbent will offer a proactive approach to the day-to-day operations of accounts payable, payroll and benefits administration effectively, as well as ensuring financial obligations are met promptly while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.

Performs day to day financial transactions, including verifying, posting and recording accounts receivables’ data, along with preparing bills, invoices and bank deposits.

This role also involves reviewing and controlling expenses, compiling weekly payment runs for approval by the Controller, and maintaining detailed records of invoices. The incumbent ensures the accounts payable ledger is accurate and up to date at all times, verifying purchase orders with supplier accounts and reconciling statements.

  • Processing accounts and incoming payments in compliance with Score’s financial policies and procedures.
  • Administers Payroll and Benefits for Canada-wide (NL and AB locations).
  • Reviews and controls expenses to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Compiles and prepares weekly payment runs for approval by the Controller.
  • Ensures all banking details are up to date and completing verbal verification as required.
  • Maintains accurate records of invoices and ensures they are accurately processed.
  • Verifies purchase orders with supplier accounts and reconciles discrepancies with statements provided.
  • Corresponds with suppliers regarding outstanding balances and resolving any payment issues.
  • Administers company cell phone plan.
  • Processes all accounts payable vouchering for travel, freight invoices, credit cards and utilities.
  • Verifies discrepancies and resolves clients’ billing issues.
  • Ensures all vendor and client credit applications are completed in a timely and detailed manner.
  • Facilitates payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients.
  • Generates reports detailing accounts receivable status.
  • Ensures that all accounts receivable invoices are posted, submitted to client and client sites in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Submits client invoices for payment in various client databases.
  • Identifies any overdue client accounts.
  • Accounts Receivable for sales administration for invoicing to client.
  • Managing accounts payable for two divisions independently, with minimal assistance required from the Financial Controller, Canada.
  • Completing high volumes of work efficiently within tight deadlines.
  • Performing administrative duties as required to support the finance department.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, specializing in accounting or diploma from college or university and/or have a demonstrated background in finance, or of serving in an accounting environment requiring analytical and accounting skills.
  • Three (3) or more years’ experience of industry preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of business processes and functions (i.e., client service satisfaction, operations, procurement, purchase ordering systems, etc.).
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, and other accounting software.
  • Positive approach to continual improvement and development.
  • Strong organizational, time management and data entry skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in financial record-keeping.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team player with a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Demonstrated background in basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles.
  • Ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
