Apprenticeship – Technical Support, Client Services (Peterhead)

Experience you will gain

You will be supported each step of the way to develop skills and knowledge in a wide variety of office-based and practical workshop tasks. You will become proficient in conducting practical workshop tasks, assessing the condition of a wide variety of specialist equipment, carrying out repair and refurbishment, conducting re-assembly and testing operations to industrial standards. You will also resolve problems and plan work scopes, monitor contractual obligations and engage with clients to support their requirements.

Overview

  • Apprenticeship duration: 5 years
  • The first year is spent with our partner training provider
  • The apprenticeship includes a 6-month departmental rotation, combining office and workshop-based experience. The role involves providing front line support to clients

Typical responsibilities

You will develop a good understanding of the work carried out in our workshops, problem solving, and working towards the role of Project Engineer, becoming a key contact for clients and assuming responsibility for client contracts.

 

Qualifications you will work towards

  • SVQ Level 2 – Performing Engineering Operations
  • A National Certificate (NC) qualification
  • The opportunity to gain accreditation through the Institution of Mechanical Engineers

Entry requirements

Our preferred applicants will hold the following qualifications:

  • National 5 or equivalent in Mathematics and English
  • National 5 or equivalent in three from the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Graphical Communications, Business Studies, Accounts, Art and Design, Craft and Design, Engineering Science or a relevant Skills for Work qualification

 

An applicant with a Foundation Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering will be deemed to meet all of the above criteria.
