IT Applications Project Manager (Peterhead)
About the role:
We are seeking an experienced IT Applications Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of application-focused projects across the business. This role is responsible for managing the full project lifecycle, ensuring that technology solutions align with organisational priorities and are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
The postholder will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and third-party suppliers to deliver high-quality solutions that improve business operations, user experience, and organisational effectiveness.
- Lead and manage the end to end delivery of IT application and systems projects.
- Define project scope, objectives, timelines, deliverables, and success measures.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including developers, analysts, suppliers, and business stakeholders.
- Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests effectively.
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with agreed governance, standards, and project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
- Monitor and report on project progress, budget, milestones and outcomes.
- Facilitate clear communication between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Oversee vendor and third party relationships where applicable, ensuring delivery against agreed expectations.
- Ensure solutions meet quality standards, business requirements, and operational needs.
- Support business readiness, user engagement, testing, and implementation activities to ensure successful adoption of new solutions.
- Conduct project reviews and lessons learned activity to support continuous improvement.
Essential
- Strong IT Project Manager experience, with a strong focus on applications delivery.
- Strong understanding of the software development cycle (SDLC).
- Demonstrable experience managing projects using recognised methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
- Strong organisational, planning, and problem solving skills.
- Experience in managing project risks, budgets, timelines, and competing priorities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
- Experience using project management and collaboration tools such as MS Project, Jira, Asana, or similar.
Desirable
- Experience delivering digital transformation, systems implementation, or enterprise applications projects.
- Experience working with third party suppliers and external delivery partners.
- Relevant project management certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, AgilePM, Scrum or similar.
- Experience supporting business change, user adoption, or process improvement initiatives.
- Communicates clearly and confidently, adapting messages appropriately for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Builds strong working relationships and collaborates effectively across teams and departments.
- Takes ownership, drives delivery, and maintains momentum to achieve outcomes.
