Manufacturing Inspector (Gas Turbines – Peterhead)
Manufacturing Inspector: Utilizing top end, latest inspection technology to ensure work is completed to client specifications
This is a great opportunity for someone who has good experience working in a machining or manufacturing environment to further develop their skills. If you can read technical drawings and are looking for opportunities in an Inspection role using multiple high-end technology equipment then this is the role for you.
- Responsible for the checking of any machined parts and the recording of these results in appropriate excel spreadsheets
- Compile CNC programs for Vision Measuring System (QV) and Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) for a wide range of single components, sub-assemblies and assemblies
- Design inspection fixtures suited to our product line in order to streamline the inspection process
- Provide constant feedback to supervisor on dimensional variation between sequential components enabling sister tooling to be accurately assigned
- Bolt on with CNC machinists during any downtime in order to gain knowledge of CNC machinery operation and eventually operate machinery during busy periods
- Ensure that QA Cards and other associated paperwork are correctly completed
- Report any discrepancies/deviations from sizes/features on drawing to Supervisor
- Ensure that all measuring equipment/machinery is within calibration date
- Assist with component cleaning pre and post inspection
- Carry out spot checks on machine at regular intervals and ensure that machinists are monitoring tool life
- Carry out weekly checks on Machines and report any faults found immediately
- Liaise with Manufacturing TL & DTL, regarding prioritisation of parts to be inspected
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures, standards and work instructions
- Mechanical Apprenticeship (or equivalent)
- Mechanical SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
- Be fully competent to carry out Machine Shop Inspection tasks
- Previous experience in machining (Desirable but not essential)
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft packages is essential
- Understanding of technical drawings – advantageous
- Previous Quality Control Inspection experience (Desirable but not essential)
- Have had previous experience or working knowledge with CMM or other similar equipment
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work well in team and to take own initiative
