Product Support & Design Engineer
At an exciting time to join Score’s Gas Turbine Engineering team, we are looking for a Product Support & Design Engineer. The position will play a pivotal role in driving the development of product improvement and manufacturing solutions from concept to market release for Gas Turbine and associated Auxiliary and Accessory products. They shall also provide day-to-day support to the product overhaul departments including product technical and conformance issues and testing.
- Lead design projects for product re-engineering and improvement, working closely with the other Engineering and Manufacture specialists to take from concept to deployment.
- Provide day-to-day support to the product overhaul departments including product technical and conformance issues and testing.
- Employ mechanical design engineering fundamentals to specify material selection and acceptance.
- Perform engineering calculations in Mathcad to design simulations using Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Specify and validate all documentation required to build a First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) IAW ISO9001 and Check or Approval sign-offs as required.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures, standards and work instructions.
- Work with Drawing Office technicians to develop component and tooling drawings and perform Check or Approval sign-offs as required.
- Testing & Validating prototypes and modifying designs until best version is reached
- Producing Root Cause Analysis Reports
- Review and understanding of technical documents / specifications and perform Check or Approval sign-offs as required.
- Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working, and their development
- BEng (Hons) Qualification in Engineering Design / Mechanical Engineering, or HNC with considerable industry experience
- Holding or in the process of obtaining Incorporated or Chartered Engineer Status
- Experience in mechanical product design and/or equipment maintenance and operation industries (rotating equipment and/or pressure industries preferred but not mandatory)
- The individual shall have a good understanding and competency in Mechanical Engineering Theory and Practices
- Problem solving and engineering experience in Oil & Gas industry
- Working with Engineering Drawings
- Performing Engineering Calculations
- CAD modelling software experience
- Familiarisation of manufacturing processes
- Planning and organising skills to include effective prioritising and resource management
- Commitment to continual improvement and flexible approach to change
- Ability to work on their own and or with the team members
- Effective communication skills
- Engineering materials specification and strength calculations
- Design Verification

- Self – motivated and committed to achieving excellence and meeting deadlines
