Fabrication and Welding (Peterhead, Scotland)
Overview
- Apprenticeship duration: 4 years
- The first year will be spent with our partner training provider
Qualifications you will work towards
- SVQ Level 2 – Performing Engineering Operations
- A National Certificate (NC) qualification (potentially progressing on to Higher National Certificate level)
Experience you will gain
You will be supported each step of the way in developing your knowledge and skills in a variety of welding and fabrication tasks.
Typical responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include fabrication and welding, the use of hand tools, and understanding drawings and engineering communications. You will build an understanding of our welding procedure and practices and develop a wide variety of skills including welder coding and the use of overhead cranes.
Entry requirements
Our preferred applicants will hold the following qualifications:
- National 4 or equivalent in Mathematics and English
- National 4 or equivalent in one of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Graphic Communication
- National 5 or equivalent in a practical subject from Woodwork, Metalwork, Craft and Design, or a relevant Skills for Work qualification
An applicant with a Foundation Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Crafts will be deemed to have met all of the above criteria.
Selection process
Applicants that meet the above entry requirements will be invited to undertake an aptitude test. Successful applicants will then be taken forward to the next stage of the selection process.
