IT (Peterhead, Scotland)
Overview
- Apprenticeship duration: 5 years
- Years 1-3 are a combination of workplace experience and studying with a partner training provider
- During years 4-5 you will be assigned to a specific IT team to develop specialist skills
Qualifications you will work towards
- A National Certificate (NC) in computing
- A Higher National Certificate (HNC) in computing
- Potential to gain a Higher National Diploma (HND)
- Additional industry-recognised qualifications
- The opportunity to gain Professional Membership with the British Computer Society – MBCS
Experience you will gain
- You will learn the fundamentals of IT Service Delivery and ITIL 4 Foundation
- You will learn how to meet IT Standards, including ISO:27001 and ISO:20000
- You will learn the full development lifecycle that delivers secure cloud and on-premise applications
- You will build an understanding of IT security and learn to recognise, correct and prevent cyber-security incidents
Typical responsibilities
You will spend time working in our IT Helpdesk, IT Infrastructure, IT Applications and IT Security Operations. Spending the first few years working in the team is crucial to building the foundations for a career in IT and allows you to build an in-depth understanding of our IT environment.
Entry requirements
Our preferred applicants will hold the following:
- National 5 or equivalent in Mathematics and English
- National 5 or equivalent in Computing Science or Administration and IT
- A keen interest in IT and service delivery
- An eye for detail and strong work ethic
Selection process
Applicants that meet the above entry requirements will be invited to undertake an aptitude test. Successful applicants will then be taken forward to the next stage of the selection process.
