Tell us about your role with Score

I joined Score almost nine years ago. My role focuses on the strategic growth of our Well Integrity division across our global locations. That includes developing and expanding our product and service offerings.

My day-to-day ranges from technical discussions and supporting new opportunities, through to long-term strategic planning. Every day tends to be different, working across multiple locations and time zones.

Can you describe your industry experience?

I’ve been in the energy industry since 1998, starting hands-on by overhauling wellhead equipment at my father’s business in Great Yarmouth. I then moved offshore, working for well intervention service companies, before becoming a well integrity engineer for one of the majors.

That journey gave me a strong understanding of both sides of the business: what clients need and how service companies can best position themselves to meet those requirements.

What trends do you see in the industry?

There’s a strong focus on well integrity, efficiency, and lifecycle management. Operators want to extend asset life, improve reliability, and reduce downtime. A key challenge is the volume of wellheads and associated equipment operating beyond their original design life.

90% of wellhead integrity failures show early warning signs if you know where to look. This requires a specialist approach; understanding how legacy equipment functions, how obsolescence impacts supply chains, and how to maintain integrity without defaulting to full replacement.

“There’s a growing demand for independent solutions, particularly those backed by strong engineering and technical expertise. Operators are increasingly looking for tailored support from a partner who genuinely listens to their requirements and doesn’t just offer an off-the-shelf product.”

We focus on understanding your challenges first, then developing the right solution. That can range from a digital management system to manage and interpret data to in-house developed solutions, such as specialist sealants or practical on-site support. In many cases, that means offering fully engineered solutions that can extend asset life and avoid costly replacement, potentially saving you millions.

Looking ahead, we’ll continue to see more emphasis on tailored solutions, smarter use of data, and long-term integrity planning. All of these are areas that Score is well-positioned to support.

What differentiates Score?

Our combination of global capability and true independence. We’re not tied to OEMs, allowing us to deliver flexible, unbiased solutions. Our engineering expertise gives you confidence across the full system lifecycle, and we continue to expand our offering to meet evolving demands.

“Our combination of independence and global reach is unique, allowing us to be highly resourceful and responsive in how we support you .”

Over recent years, we’ve grown significantly. A lot of that has been driven by listening to our clients, understanding their challenges, and adapting to their requirements.

Unplanned wellhead or Xmas tree interventions can cost up to 10 times more than planned maintenance. We’re constantly improving how we deliver our products and services. For me, it’s about how we show up as a business — supporting each other, taking ownership, and always looking to add value. That’s what really drives our success.

What excites you about working for Score

What I enjoy most is the variety and the people. There’s always something new to get involved in, and our ‘One Team’ culture really stands out.

“There’s strong collaboration across locations, with people always willing to share knowledge and support each other.”

Our Well Integrity division has been a key part of Score’s success, and it’s been exciting to see the service line grow alongside the wider business. I’m excited to see that continue!
