Congratulations to our Time-Served Scottish Apprentices

It’s been an exciting week at Score Group as we celebrated the end of the Modern Apprenticeship (MA) journey for our newest set of Scottish graduates.

It’s a long-running Score tradition that each year culminates in an award ceremony, recognising the achievements of those who have completed their apprenticeship and are now ‘time-served.’

Although this year’s proceedings had to be scaled back in line with current government restrictions, there was no mistaking the buzz in the air as 29 apprentices in total (27 Engineering and Electrical, one IT and one Administration) marked the end of an era, and took home their completion certificates.

It was a double celebration for Peterhead-based Valve Technician, Ewan, as he was announced winner of the coveted ‘Charles Buchan Ritchie Award’ for ‘Scottish Apprentice of the Year.’ Named after the company’s founder, this award recognises the apprentice who has demonstrated an outstanding level of commitment throughout the course of the apprenticeship. This year, we were delighted that the award was presented by former Score Group director and Charles Ritchie’s son, Conrad.

Our MA programmes support our trainees as they gain on-the job experience and training, work towards formal qualifications, and ‘earn while they learn’. Many of our MA graduates have gone on to work in management, or at Score locations across the globe.

Addressing the graduates, CEO Gordon Ronaldson explained that the annual ceremony is every bit as proud a day for the company as it is for those receiving awards. Telling the group that ‘the sky’s the limit’ and touching on the fact that no position in the company is off-limits in terms of career progression, he said:

‘We have invested heavily in apprenticeships over the years: our founder’s vision has become reality, with many skilled craftspeople at all levels of the company. We remain proud of our apprentices and their successes and will continue to ensure, regardless of these challenging times, that they are fully equipped with the knowledge and expertise to begin their career.’

We wish each member of the group every success as they begin the next chapter, and we look forward to working with them as they continue to develop in their roles within the company.
