Score Group Sponsors Peterhead Football Club
Two well established institutions in the North East of Scotland have enhanced their long-term relationship with Score Group proudly agreeing to be the sponsor of Peterhead Football Club’s famous blue and white jerseys.
Score, who are an International Engineering Company, have major facilities at Glenugie and also globally, and headquarters up the hill at Wellbank Peterhead and their relationship with the Balmoor based club can be measured in decades.
The late Charles Ritchie founded Score in 1982 and he was a passionate supporter and backer of the football club where his contribution to their journey from the Highland League to the senior leagues is acknowledged in the Boardroom at Balmoor which bears his name.
Score’s Chief Executive Officer Gordon Ronaldson said:
“Score are proud to sponsor Peterhead Football Club. We both believe in flying the flag for our part of the North East of Scotland and we were really happy to have our relationship marked by this sponsorship.”
“We are the largest private employer in the area as well as being one of the largest contributors to the apprenticeship scheme in Scotland and a lot of our workforce follow the team passionately. At Score we believe in backing the local community and working with Peterhead Football Club allows us to do that.”
The sponsorship got off to a wonderful start with Jim McInally’s team winning 1-0 at the Tannadice home of Premiership Dundee United in their first outing in their Score jerseys with Gordon saying:
“We were thrilled with that result and it was great to see our name at such a prominent footballing venue.”
“Score also sponsored Saturday’s game with Montrose at Links Park and whilst the result was disappointing it was a very good display by the team.”
“We are looking forward to the day when we can see the Peterhead team running out with our name emblazoned on their jerseys at Balmoor.”
Peterhead Football Club chairman Rodger Morrison said:
“We are very fortunate to have such a long- term association with Score going back to when Charles started the company. Score have deep roots in Peterhead, and we are delighted that their name is on our home shirts.”
“Like Gordon I was delighted that the sponsorship kicked off to such a fantastic start at Dundee United. The financial situation across many industries is not great just now because of Covid-19 and that makes us all the more appreciative of the backing we have received from Score.”
