Score Gas Turbines Wins Two World Energy Supply Chain Awards

Score’s Gas Turbines division has won two World Energy Supply Chain Awards (WESCAs), in the Culture and Scale Up categories.

Run by the Energy Industries Council (EIC), the WESCAs are the largest energy awards programme in the world. This year, 136 EIC member companies were entered across 16 categories. Score  was entered through the EIC’s Survive & Thrive Insight Report, where companies explain how they perform in a challenging market.

Since 2022, the division has built its culture around two principles: assume positive intent, and better never stops. Anyone can put forward an improvement idea anonymously. Each one is reviewed, and the outcomes are shared at town halls. Fortnightly roundtables give every team member time with leadership, and a Future Leaders programme is developing the division’s next managers from within.

The division has grown too, helped by lean process improvements, a new ERP system and a more proactive approach to sales. The apprenticeship programme has expanded from 10 to almost 50 apprentices, more than 40 skilled welders have joined, and the 2025 acquisition of Drake Controls, a Woodward channel partner, made Score a platinum-level Woodward distributor.

“These awards recognise what our people have built together. We changed how we work with each other, and the growth followed. We’re looking forward to what comes next,” said Paul Stein, Managing Director, Score’s Gas Turbines division.
