Tell us about your role with Score?

I joined the Score team over 12 years ago as a graduate mechanical engineer and gained CEng status through Scores IMechE accredited Monitored Professional Development Scheme. Progressing through various roles in the business, my current role is now the Asset Integrity & Solutions Integration Lead.  Within this role I have a focus on developing asset management solutions for the business and have been working closely with asset55 our digital partner on the development and implementation of the Operate software solution, with a focus on emissions management. What I enjoy most about this job is that each day is rarely the same. Working on various problems or challenges in the business, trying to provide solutions for these is what makes me thrive.

Can you describe your industry experience?

After gaining a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh, I decided to step into the industry which was at the core of where I grew up in the North East of Scotland.  This led me to joining Score as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, and I have been here ever since.

Over the years, I’ve found it interesting to understand clients’ needs and figure out how we can support them – whether it’s fulfilling immediate requirements, such as supplying a replacement valve or repair solution, or focusing on longer-term goals like optimising valve performance.

With the digitalisation of processes and data-driven analysis, I have seen a shift in how we support clients – helping them transition from reactive maintenance strategies to more proactive, efficient asset management solutions.

What trends do you see in the industry?

Emissions management is becoming increasingly crucial in operations and is driven by regulations, such as those from the EU or reporting frameworks such as the OGMP 2.0. There has also been a push towards cleaner energy solutions. As a business, we can play a crucial role in supporting this transition while continuing to provide solutions for the existing energy infrastructure.

Collaboration will be key as we move forward. Whether with other companies in the D2Zero portfolio, the wider industry, or with our clients, we are here to support innovative new solutions. The industry can only move forward if everyone is on board and driving towards the same goals.

What differentiates Score?

Over the past few years, I have frequently heard clients say: “I didn’t realise that Score could do that or support us in that area.” As we move forward, we have even greater potential to support our clients, and our ability to continually diversify allows us to constantly grow as a business.

What excites you about working for Score?

Back when I joined Score, we were known primarily as a valve company and to some still are. However, over the time I have worked for Score, I believe that perception is evolving as we have expanded to support the industry with more than just valves, such as our emissions services. As we continue to innovate and expand our support for clients in this critical area, I am excited to be part of a company that is shaping the industry’s future and making a tangible impact.
